A major earthquake struck Haiti on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, knocking down buildings and destroying countless lives. This disaster was rated the number one event of 2010 by CNN. Haiti’s ambassador to the United States called it a catastrophe for the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation. The resilient spirit of the Haitian people was evident as they climbed out from under the rubble. It is with that same spirit that we will rebuild our nation.
